How and Why We Got Started
Organized to Support Undersea Sciences. The Undersea Science and Engineering Foundation, Inc. is organized exclusively for supporting, maintaining, and furthering educational outreach for the undersea sciences and engineering in southeastern New England. We are committed to transforming southeastern New England into an Undersea Science Technology Center of Excellence. The Foundation acknowledges the importance of the area heritage, fosters enthusiasm and insight, and develops training opportunities for students, veterans, and others to help build and support the 21st century workforce.
Focused on Education and Workforce Development. Since our founding in 2010, the Undersea Science and Engineering Foundation, Inc. has focused on promoting educational and work force development opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and collaborating with the community to achieve measurable outcomes. We invite organizations that share this vision to join with us. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
A Collaboarative Effort. This proposed program is the product of a collaborative effort among:
- Undersea Science and Engineering Foundation, Inc. (USEF) is an organization formed by senior retired Navy civilian employees who during their careers at NUWC came to understand the critical role that an educated workforce plays in sustaining high technology organizations in the United States. The founders of USEF are concerned about the dwindling number of students interested in pursuing careers in science and engineering disciplines necessary to produce the highly educated work force that is central to sustaining Rhode Island and Southern New England organizations and economies. We are registered in the state of Rhode Island as a Domestic Non-Profit organization, and have been recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization. USEF has also entered into a formal Education Partnership Agreement with NUWC.
